About Puja
Each month in the Tamil calendar holds its own unique significance, but the month of Purattasi is considered particularly special and auspicious. This month is revered due to a significant celestial event that took place during this period, elevating its sacredness. According to ancient beliefs, during Purattasi, Lord Vishnu descended to Earth in the form of Sri Venkateshwara (Lord Tirupati), who is regarded as the Supreme Lord of Wealth. Since then, this month has been dedicated to honouring Lord Venkateshwara, who is considered the protector of the Kali Yuga. Devotees believe that performing any form of worship or ritual for Lord Venkateshwara during this auspicious month brings blessings of wealth, prosperity, well-being, and spiritual growth. One of the significant rituals is the Lord Venkateshwara Homa, which is believed to grant blessings of debt- relief and abundance of wealth, especially when performed during this auspicious time. Along with this homa, performing Krishna Alankara Rath Yatra is also considered highly auspicious because Lord Krishna is the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. This ritual includes the alankara of idol Krishna. Once the alankara is completed, the Murthi (idol) is taken on a procession through the village for all the people to have the darshan (sacred viewing) of Lord Krishna. The Murthi is carried on a rath (chariot) known as the Garuda Vaahan. The Garuda is a mythical bird and the mount of Lord Vishnu. This puja will be organised during this auspicious month at the Etteluthuperumal Temple in Tirunelveli, South India. It is believed that performing Lord Venkateshwara Homa and Krishna Alankara Rath Yatra on saturday during Purattasi month yield double the rewards. According to Sacred texts, offering prayers or rituals to Lord Venkateshwara on the Saturdays of Purattasi month can help reduce the negative or delaying effects of Shani. Therefore, Purattasi is considered an ideal time to seek the combined blessings of both Lord Vishnu for Blessing of Debt-Relief and Abundance of Wealth. Therefore, participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive the divine blessings of Lord Venkateshwara and Lord Krishna.
